Our homes are built with Engleman Spruce and Douglas Fir. The logs
we use are an average of 12-16 inches mean diameter, and the tight-grained
timber is between 80 and 140 years old. Canada's Log People is contracted
with us to build our log masterpieces. They selectively harvests its
own timber from designated forestry areas, which are then replanted
within two years. We put back what nature gave us. Our log harvesting
is done in the winter when the sap is down. The logs are then air-dried
though the year to a moisture content of 19 percent or less. As a further
measure of quality, over 90 percent of our timber meets the highest
or premium grade standard of the Timber Products Inspection Agency.
When you buy a handcrafted log home from Paradise Mountain Log Homes, Inc. you can expect a premier classic Scandinavian full scribe or V-groove. The full length of each log is hand-scribed and hand cut. Each log is fitted to the next, with no butt joints. The majority of our homes utilize the popular Norwegian saddle notch, while the remainder are fitted with a wedge notch or single V saddle notch or the double V saddle notch. We also build timber frame, post and beam houses.
